Ruoff Mortgage’s rich and deep connections to its employees begins at the start of most people’s careers: internships. Fortunately, Ruoff’s internship program is focused on the betterment of the interns themselves, teaching them intangible skills that apply to any field of work.
The internship experience at Ruoff begins with Thomas Przybocki, Ruoff’s multifaceted and personable HR internship-lead. Thomas himself actually started as an intern at Ruoff, and he has since gained a lasting position. Przybocki had this to say in regards to his experience at Ruoff as an intern:
“My internship experience at Ruoff played a significant role in shaping my career. It provided me with hands-on learning opportunities, exposure to different areas of Human Resources, and relationships with professionals who were genuinely invested in my success. The experience gave me a strong foundation and ultimately made it an easy decision to pursue a career with the company. It's especially rewarding now to help create similar opportunities for the next generation of interns.”
Moreover, Thomas’ guidance and planning has created a “meaningful, hands-on experience,” where “Interns are given opportunities to contribute to real projects, collaborate with professionals, and gain exposure to the mortgage industry as a whole.” The internship program is a serious step in the right direction for anybody thinking about working in a corporate setting, but it also emphasizes basic employable skills that apply to a vast array of industries and sectors.
These skills take form through team bonding exercises that Ruoff applies to the local community of Fort Wayne. Przybocki’s interns in 2025 organized a volunteer day at the Community Harvest Food Bank, while still having loads of fun opportunities for group bonding, like Fort Wayne's local sporting events. The Ruoff interns this year will “have opportunities to participate in volunteer events throughout the summer and support initiatives,” and these experiences “allow them to make a positive impact while building teamwork and leadership skills.”
The internship program builds strong bonds between coworkers through a sundry of activities, including “team lunches, a group project, professional development sessions, volunteer opportunities, or networking events with company leaders.” Ruoff’s interns can expect to gain a solid groundwork of knowledge in theirs and other departments, in addition to “practical experience and professional development opportunities that prepare them for future careers.” Fortunately, Ruoff welcomed 11 new interns this year who work 35-40 hours a week, with manageable work flows and hands-on experience.
Through a “straightforward and accessible” application process, prospective interns can apply to be a part of 5+ programs, with a broad spectrum of skillsets and majors accepted. So, apply here, and Ruoff hopes to see you in next year’s program!
